An Open Letter Of A Commuter

Commuting, Is More Fun In The Philippines!

Commuting.  Is More Fun In The Philippines!

Commuting nowadays is a bit challenging or should I say, it’s an EXTRA CHALLENGE’ part of the day because of the different scenarios that you will encounter along the way. Last week, the MRT (Metro Rail Transit), had an accident causing a lot of people getting injured and yes, a traffic jam! 🙂

I was not riding the MRT when the accident happened, thank you Lord! but after that, I just felt the nervousness, as I was about to ride the MRT that day also, going home from work. I encountered a man who was just so frustrated when the MRT that we we’re riding was stocked in Shaw Blvd. station for more than 30 minutes! The man was shouting and he was telling not-so-good comments about our government, about the MRT station and so on. He was really pissed off. While hearing those rants that he have, I was just reminded of how blessed I am during that moment even though we are stuck there and I am standing 🙂 the man who was ranting had a comfortable seat by the way 😀 Many questions are running in my head at that very moment like, will this train move again? will I be home by 8PM? what’s our dinner? 🙂 and so on. I felt very tired hearing the man’s rants and it really added stress to a lot of us commuters in there. I kept on praying to God for more grace and understanding for that situation. And for whoever that man is, I just pray that he will see the value of his seat and the MRT that he was riding, there are a lot of Filipinos out there who strive their way to get inside the MRT ( and that includes me ) to be able to get in their destination, it’s physically tiring yes, but when those moments hits, I always choose to stay focus on the positive like the fact that I can walk from point A to point B is such a blessing! And I always thank God for that. Those simple things but have a big impact in our lives is sad to say, taken for granted by many because they are too consumed by the things that they cannot have or don’t have. Just like what the Bible says: ” Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. -Colossians 4:2 /ESV ”

It’s really challenging to commute from point A to point B. There are millions of Filipinos who have their own share of adventure everyday as they conquer the streets of the Philippines. And my story, is one of them, I continually collect my commute adventures in my mind, and try to pick up some positive note in every experience I have. There we’re times that I have to walk on a sidewalk with my pink umbrella while a very strong rain is pouring down , and the only thing that I can think of and pray in those moments is a bigger shade for me to get in for a minute and I am praying that a car or any public transportation vehicle won’t splurge a flood on my face as I walk on the sidewalk lol! 🙂 Especially,in my job, as a Financial Advisor, I usually go to different places for meetings. And commuting is really challenging. But given that, I will always choose to stay focus to His word and faithfulness in my life. Sometimes, I stop over in a car showroom and lay hands in some of the brand new cars there 🙂 Hahaha! 🙂 I know someday, I will have, my own brand new car in Jesus name 🙂 Commuting while there is a flood and it’s raining so hard is again, another adventure to tell 😀

I know, God will continue to strengthen my feet as I continue to commute and yes, I will always choose to speak blessings in all circumstances to my beloved Philippines 🙂 And oh, today is a holiday here in the Philippines, Happy Ninoy Aquino Day my dear Filipinos! 🙂

” Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance” Psalm 33:12 (New International Version)

Indeed, Commuting is More Fun In the Philippines! 🙂

Only God’s Plans Prevail

I’ve been thinking what to blog and God just reminded me this verse as we continually plan and prepare for our wedding day and married life — ” You can make many plans, but the LORD’s purpose will prevail.” — Proverbs 19:21 (NLT)

I know this verse is familiar to most of us. But in every season of our lives, we can see new revelations about this verse. God just reminded me to hold on to His promises as we continually prepare for our wedding and married life. We work hard, we pray harder, we save, we believe, we claim and declare that everything we are doing is not only for that single day of celebration but it’s a lifelong celebration of marriage that is all centered by God’s faithfulness, love, grace, power and provision in everything we need, want or desire.

Is there a need to have a PLAN B?  I always ask myself that especially in this season of too many decision-making for our wedding. I always choose to not have plan B.  Why? Because I believe that, the moment that I entertain the thought of having a PLAN B … — it goes to show that my faith is not in FULL TRUST with His awesome plans for me.  It may sound scary at times and too risky but I choose to stay on His track and exercise my faith because I know, at the end of this all, God is still sovereign and He is in control.

I choose God’s Plan. We plan and set our deadlines, our goals, our targets as we prepare for this life changing event. We are doing our part and yes, we leave a space for God’s power and work to be done in behalf of us. At the end of the day, it’s always God’s plans and timetable that  will prevail and that’s always our prayer.

As said in the Bible .. ”

Faith Without Works Is Dead

14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good[a] is that? 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

18 But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder! 20 Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God. 24 You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. —  James 2:14-24 English Standard Version (ESV)

So as we work in faith and as we act with wisdom, I am sure, God is continually going to be with us in every step of the way.  How far have we gone in terms of our wedding preparations? It’s still ongoing and it’s a work in progress preparation, all glory to God! Thank you Lord for You are our strength and our joy as we continually embrace this season with so much of Your love and faithfulness and we believe and claim that everything will just fall into its proper places according to Your perfect, pleasing and good  plans for us.

It’s not about the us. It will never be about us.  It’s all about You Jesus.

iWRITE: Inspire to Write. Write to Inspire.

It’s a very refreshing seminar because we speak about LIFE and how to INSPIRE others to write and share your own experiences, learning, or just about anything that will make you realize that YOU CAN WRITE & be a source of encouragement to a lot of people.

Wedding Blog: And the Wedding Preparation Continues …

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails … (NIV)

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

It’s about JESUS.

We are still planning and doing what we can do to prepare for our wedding day! It’s a one day event that will be a start of a new chapter in our lives. And that is as husband- and wife and we will once again commit ourselves to God, and to each other. Thank you Lord for bringing us to this wonderful season.

For those who are reading this and you are in a different season, I pray that you will get something from this, a word of encouragement, a reminder, I pray that you will be able to see the beauty of everything in all seasons because God works in seasons.

One of the toughest or most challenging part as we continue to plan for our wedding is the choice of the wedding ceremony and wedding reception venue. So for me, as a soon-to-be bride that will walk down the aisle in 283 days, I would love to have a garden ceremony set up, You may ask me why? —  We’ll it’s because I love that the ceremony will be surrounded with flowers and the feel of being in an outdoor wedding ceremony set up is really calming for me and very intimate with nature. I’ve coordinated weddings of different people. —  Now, as a bride on my own wedding day, —  it feels so different, and it’s kinda challenging for me because I tend to think too much from the smallest to the simplest details of my wedding!  🙂  (as in I am very particular lol)  I’ve learned and relearn the value of complete trust to the Lord, because as much as I want to be involved in every details, I cannot do it all at once because I know, God has the last say and plan in everything. I am always reminded always of the TRUE VALUE OF SURRENDERING TO HIS WILL everyday, not only in this season but for the rest of my life.

I am not perfect. I have my own flaws.  With all that, I know God is building me in His likeness and that’s what makes me more excited every waking days.

We’ll back to the wedding ceremony venue that I have in my mind and heart, I always ask myself this, what is my reason, motive,  on getting this garden wedding venue? Is it too much? Is it so expensive?  and the questions goes  on …  — – What keeps me at peace is that in every decision that we are making, we are deciding not based on emotions or the feel but we are basing through God’s direction. How? We Pray and talk to the Almighty God.

There’s too much to think, prepare, save, do, and most especially to pray about when you are preparing for your wedding day, but what is the MOST IMPORTANT THING is we always GO TO GOD’S WORD, for direction, wisdom, peace, joy and love and for His sovereignty, because in the first place, we are getting married because of our LOVE FOR GOD, OUR COMMITMENT TO HIM & of course, because of my love & commitment to my  husband-to-be, Melvin.

After the wedding ceremony, the reception — it’s the life that we will lived as husband and wife — is another chapter of His amazing, awesome and perfect plans.
A wedding day is a display of God’s love, miracles, favors, provision, faithfulness and surprises! It will not stop there when the wedding day ends because the Lord will not stop.

He will never stop blessing, loving, forgiving, correcting, comforting, providing, making as laugh and challenging us and a lot more because He LOVES US SO MUCH 🙂

And one more thing, in all these, preparations, the butterflies in my stomach, the moments when I seem to get tired, or sometimes I just want to burst into tears because of many things that needs to be done for the wedding day and for the preparations for a married life,  (physically, emotionally, spiritually,  financially, socially, intellectually and the list goes on … ) but thank God for His grace.  I am strong and ready to continually fight this good fight of faith in this new season! It’s His story! It’s not about us, it’s all about JESUS.

He is the one who orchestrated our love story of my beloved fiance Melvin, and with this TRUTH, we are complete. MORE THAN COMPLETE because in Him, this is FINISHED!

And yes, we are here on this earth not to please everyone or anyone. We are here to please the Only One and that’s God .. up there .. looking unto us because at the end of our life,  the sweetest words that we  will hear is these words coming from God:

” Well done! my good and faithful servant.”

When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. – John 19:30
